Trademark clearance needs a USPTO Open Data Portal API key (set as the USPTO_ODP_KEY secret) for automated flags — the USPTO closed its keyless search on 2026-06-18. Without it, clearance returns an honest UNVERIFIED + a verify link. Always: not legal advice, verify FTO.
